PHMSA EX Number Mandate

No commercial explosive may be offered for transportation without an approval assigned by PHMSA (49 CFR § 173.56). The EX-number must appear on shipping papers, bills of lading, and packaging labels.

02

The Detonator Prohibition (1.1B + 1.1D)

Detonators (Group B) cannot be co-transported on the same vehicle with detonating explosives (Group D) unless packaged in an approved IME SLP-22 container or separate ballistic compartment.

03

Group S Exception

Compatibility Group S materials are packaged such that any accidental functioning is confined within the package. Group S may be co-loaded with almost all other Class 1 groups without invalidating segregation.

Automate Class 1 Compatibility & EX Approval Tracking

Exspeedite TMS automatically checks multi-order HazMat manifests against 49 CFR § 177.848 segregation tables, blocking illegal mixed loads in real time during dispatch order entry.
