01

Inhabited Building Distance (IBD)

IBD is the minimum distance required between an explosive vehicle or magazine and any dwelling, church, school, or factory. The standard protects building occupants from serious injury, collapse, or major flying debris.

02

Earthen Berm Barricades

An effective barricade is a natural or artificial mound of earth of such height that a straight line from the top of any sidewall of the truck to any part of the exposed building passes through the mound. Barricades reduce required IBD distance by approximately 50%.

03

Hopkinson-Cranz Blast Scaling

Overpressure models scale via the cube-root of TNT equivalent weight: Z = R / W^(1/3). At scaled distances Z > 40 ft/lb^(1/3), peak overpressure drops below 1.0 PSI, preventing structural damage to commercial properties.

Integrate Automated IBD Buffers in Exspeedite HazMat TMS

Prevent FMCSR and ATF parking violations. Exspeedite automatically validates real-time truck GPS coordinates against population databases, schools, and hospitals to enforce lawful standoff distances.
