HVDC Subsea Power Cable Turntable Transport Manual
Comprehensive heavy haul operating protocols for mobilizing 2,000T–7,000T offshore wind and international grid interconnector cable carousels: multi-file SPMT synchronized load-outs, circular roller track foundation engineering, and CIGRE TB 623 compliance.
01 Turntable & Multi-File SPMT Matrix
02 DNV Marine Warranty Survey (MWS) Status MWS APPROVED
SPMT electronic multi-file synchronization verified. Quayside load spreader grillage installed over high-stress transition zones.
5,000T Ring Beam Deflection
Cable carousels concentrate thousands of tons onto circular steel roller tracks. During multi-file SPMT transport, unequal support deflection causes binding of the central drive pivot and localized plastic deformation of the roller race. Structural grillage beams must restrict global deflection to under 5mm.
Barge Ballast Sync (>3,000 m³/hr)
Rolling a 5,000 metric ton carousel onto a cable laying vessel or transport barge transfers colossal point loads across the linkspan. Automated high-capacity ballast systems pump water at over 3,000 cubic meters per hour to counteract barge de-ballasting and match the quayside elevation continuously.
CIGRE TB 623/853 Compliance
High-voltage 525kV submarine cables incorporate extruded lead alloy moisture barriers and optical fiber strain elements. Mechanical stress induced during turntable transport and spooling must stay within CIGRE TB 623 test parameters to prevent fatigue cracking of the lead sheath.
