Payload Fairing Positive Pressure & Purge Calculator
Model purge flow rates (SCFM), positive differential pressure (ΔP), nitrogen supply bottle bank endurance, and dew point margins for encapsulated satellite fairings during pad roll-outs.

02 Purge Telemetry & Pad Barrier Status HERMETIC SEAL SECURE
Continuous differential pressure maintained across all fairing split-line labyrinth seals. Mobile tube trailer trailing umbilical pressure regulated at 50 psi header.
Differential ΔP Overpressure
Launch vehicles rolling from the Horizontal Integration Facility (HIF) to the launch pad travel through humid coastal atmospheres (Cape Canaveral / Vandenberg). Maintaining ≥0.05 inches of water gauge (ΔP) ensures outward gas velocity through all seals, repelling airborne salt aerosols.
Nitrogen Tube Trailer Sizing
Pad rollouts frequently experience unexpected delays due to transporter leveling, lightning warnings, or crane hook delays. A 45,000 SCF tube trailer provides over 12 hours of uninterrupted autonomous purge, preventing satellite optic contamination during pad holds.
Dew Point Monitoring (≤-40°C)
Ultra-sensitive star trackers, optical lenses, and multilayer insulation (MLI) blankets degrade rapidly in the presence of trace moisture. Purge gas dew point is continuously sampled at the fairing exhaust port, triggering automated alarms if humidity exceeds 15 ppmv.
