Shipyard Keel Block & Gantry Transload CoG Calculator
Naval architecture tool for modeling 3D Center of Gravity (LCG, VCG, TCG), timber cap crushing pressure on concrete keel blocks, and dual-hook load sharing during 500T–2,000T hull module transloads.
01 Hull Module & Transload Variables
02 Keel Block Stress & Stability Output STRESS WITHIN LIMITS
Keel block alignment laser-surveyed prior to set-down. Side bilge blocks motorized and positioned to engage hull deadrise at 85% full load.
Keel Block Timber Softening
Concrete drydock blocks must be topped with softwood sacrificial caps (Douglas Fir or Southern Pine) to absorb hull plating irregularities and weld seams. If timber crushing exceeds allowable compression limits, wood fibers shear completely, transferring destructive point loads to the concrete core.
Tandem Goliath Gantry Sync
1,000+ metric ton shipyard gantry cranes utilize dual motorized hoist trolleys. An offset longitudinal center of gravity (LCG) unevenly loads the forward or aft rigging slings. Continuous load-cell telemetry automatically trims hoist speeds to keep the hull section perfectly horizontal during lowering.
Bilge Block Deadrise Engagement
Submarine and warship modules possess curved or deadrise bottom plating. Adjustable bilge blocks fitted with wedge jacks must be brought into contact immediately as the keel touches down to prevent transverse rolling or tipping moments before full de-rigging.
