NAVSEA Heavy Modular Rigging & Shoring Audit Checklist
Mandatory pre-haul inspection protocol for heavy naval submarine and surface warship modular transfers: cradle contact pad compression, hydraulic SPMT stroke balance, linkspan bridge deflections, and defense security approvals.
01 Shoring & Hydraulic System Verification
02 NAVSEA 009-84 Compliance Certificate PASSED • READY TO ROLL
All shoring tie-downs locked. Hydraulic relief bypass valves set to 280 bar. Yard transfer path swept for debris and clear of personnel.
Pre-Haul Shoring Inspections
Shoring saddles and cribbing towers must undergo non-destructive examination (NDE) prior to loading multi-thousand ton naval modules. Ultrasonic thickness testing and magnetic particle inspection ensure no micro-cracking exists along critical structural fillet welds.
Hydraulic Stroke Reserve
Multi-file SPMTs must never operate near maximum or minimum cylinder stroke limits. A mandatory ±150mm dynamic reserve must be maintained at all times to compensate for shipyard apron slopes, linkspan transitions, and unexpected ground settlement.
Linkspan Slope Limits (≤1.5%)
Transferring from building way apron to graving dock transfer cars or barges involves transition ramps. NAVSEA 009-84 strictly enforces a maximum slope of 1.5% to prevent internal module equipment shear and keep saddle contact pressure strictly uniform.
