Rocket Stage & Launch Vehicle Transport Manual
Structural transport engineering for liquid rocket booster stages, gaseous nitrogen environmental envelopes, multi-line SPMT hydraulic suspension, and Spaceport range safety access.
Positive-Pressure Enclosure
Propulsion tanks, avionics bays, and rocket engine turbopumps require continuous dry gaseous nitrogen (GN2) positive-pressure blankets (+0.5 to +2.0 PSIG). Maintaining a dew point below -40°F prevents atmospheric moisture condensation and interior corrosion.
Zero-Flexure Transport Bed
Ultra-thin orthogrid tank walls can buckle under uneven torsional bending. Heavy transporters utilize electronically synchronized Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) with 360-degree hydraulic steering and active 3-point suspension leveling to eliminate twist.
US Space Force Range Safety
Deliveries into Cape Canaveral SFS (SLD 45) or Vandenberg SFB (SLD 30) require pre-coordinated convoy safety escorts, badged personnel clearances, non-explosive ordnance verification, and road closure coordination with space launch schedules.
Launch Vehicle Stage Transporter & Rigging Specifier
Configure booster stage dimensions, environmental purge parameters, and transporter axle line requirements.
01. GN2 Purge Manifold Operation
- ✓ Continuous Positive Pressure: Dual redundant mechanical pressure regulators maintain 1.0 ± 0.3 PSIG differential over ambient barometric pressure inside all internal tank cavities.
- ✓ Oxygen Deficiency Warning Sensors: Nitrogen discharge ports must vent clear of tractor cab air intakes with in-cab ambient O2 alarm sensors set to trigger at 19.5% oxygen concentration.
02. Tiller Steerable Dolly Synchronization
- ✓ Remote Tiller Control: Trailing multi-axle bogies feature an independent operator cabin or wireless joystick controller to steer around tight highway off-ramps and toll plaza curves.
- ✓ Exspeedite Real-Time Route Telemetry: Swept-path corridor tracking, live height sensor alerts, and automated permit verification directly connected into Exspeedite TMS.
