SLC Pad Transport Route & Incline Audit Checklist
Operational audit standard for rolling encapsulated rocket payloads and satellites up launch complex pad ramps: hydraulic transporter pitch compensation, pad perimeter obstacle envelope, and cleanroom airlock seal handoffs.
01 Launch Pad Incline & Transporter Configuration
02 AFSPCMAN 91-710 Compliance Determination RANGE SAFETY APPROVED
Pad ramp slope verified. Dynamic hydraulic leveling systems operational. Emergency wheel chocks and tow vehicle winches rigged and ready.
Transporter Pitch Leveling
As a multi-ton payload climbs a 5% pad ramp, vertical spacecraft structures experience dangerous bending moments if allowed to tilt backward. Vertical Payload Transporters (VPTs) incorporate computer-controlled hydraulic leveling to keep the payload vertical to within ±0.1 degrees continuously.
Pad Lightning Mast Sweeps
Launch complexes are encircled by towering lightning protection catenary wires and fiberglass masts. Prior to rollout, high-precision mobile LiDAR scans verify that thermal expansion sag or wind gusts will not cause catenary cables to infringe on the transporter payload fairing envelope.
Airlock Environmental Mating
At the pad mount or Mobile Service Tower (MST), the transporter must dock into the cleanroom enclosure. Pressurized inflatable neoprene bellows form an airtight, positive-pressure tunnel before transporter roll-up doors open, protecting payloads from coastal salt fog.
