Nuclear Submarine Modular Hull Section SPMT Transport Manual

Standardized engineering protocols for multi-file Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) transport of 800T–2,500T nuclear submarine pressure hull modules between fabrication halls, barge roll-off slipways, and graving drydocks.

HY-80 / HY-100 Saddle Cradling

High-yield submarine pressure hulls must not experience localized point-load indentation during transit. Custom-rolled steel saddle frames lined with high-density Azobé hardwood and elastomeric pads cradle minimum 120 degrees of hull circumference to disperse reaction stresses below 15% of material yield.

02

Multi-File SPMT Digital Coupling

Transporting 2,000+ metric ton supermodules requires linking multiple 4-axle and 6-axle SPMT lines side-by-side (dual-lane or 4-file) and end-to-end. Wireless microprocessor synchronization couples steering motors, hydrostatic drive axles, and hydraulic suspension stroke to keep the deck level within ±5mm.

03

NAVSEA 009-84 Docking Compliance

Under NAVSEA Standard Item 009-84, drydock transfer paths, linkspan ramps, and graving dock thresholds must undergo comprehensive finite element structural modeling. Ground bearing pressure on shipyard apron slabs, service tunnels, and drydock copings must be stamped by a registered professional naval architect.
