01 Carbon-Bismaleimide (BMI) Material Safeguards & Environmental Control

Unlike standard subsonic commercial jetliners constructed from epoxy composites or aluminum alloys, Mach 1.7 commercial supersonic airframes endure aerodynamic skin friction heating exceeding 140°C (284°F) during high-altitude cruise. The main structural wingbox utilizes high-glass-transition temperature Carbon-Bismaleimide (BMI) pre-pregs co-cured with monolithic titanium root fittings.

Before final coating and autoclave integration at the Final Assembly Line (FAL), exposed BMI laminates are hygroscopic and sensitive to micro-cracking under torsional ground shocks. The transport assembly is hermetically enclosed within a positive-pressure, desiccated clean air cocoon maintaining < 40% relative humidity and continuous ambient temperature stabilization between 15°C and 25°C.

02 Steerable Trailing Dolly & Aero-Elastic Torsion Deflection Control

Dual-Bolster Turntable Support Frame

Because a 32-meter supersonic compound delta wing cannot tolerate bending moments induced by road surface crowning, the wingbox rests on two isolated hydraulic turntable bolsters. The front bolster is pinned to a specialized low-deck gooseneck trailer, while the aft bolster rides on a self-tracking, multi-axle steerable hydraulic trailing dolly.

  • Trailing Dolly Steering: Wireless radio remote ±55° angle
  • Bolster Spherical Bearings: Self-aligning elastomeric bearings
  • Hydraulic Leveling Equalization: Active 4-corner auto-balance

Fiber-Bragg Grating (FBG) Strain Telemetry

Optical fiber cables carrying Fiber-Bragg Grating (FBG) strain sensors are embedded along the primary wingbox carbon spars. Exspeedite CheckPoint samples structural strain at 250 Hz, triggering visual and auditory cab alarms if dynamic aero-elastic twist exceeds 0.18 degrees.

  • Max Micro-Strain: ≤ 450 με during highway transit
  • Vertical G-Limit: ≤ 0.40 G (air-ride suspension governed)
  • Lateral G-Limit: ≤ 0.25 G on high-speed highway curves
