Synchrotron Magnet Micro-Vibration & Shock Calculator
Model dynamic vertical and lateral shock responses, resonant transmissibility, Power Spectral Density (PSD), and spring deflection for superconducting undulators, quadrupole triplets, and cryogenic beamline magnets during road transit.

Transmissibility & Q-Factor
At resonance (f = fn), isolation mounts amplify vibration by Q = 1 / (2ζ). Standard helical steel springs exhibit high Q (>10), causing destructive resonance over bridge joints. Stainless wire-rope isolators introduce internal wire friction (ζ ∼ 0.18), reducing Q to under 3.0.
Power Spectral Density (PSD)
Highway road profiles represent broad-band random vibration. PSD profiles (g²/Hz) quantify energy across frequency bands. Attenuating frequencies above 3 Hz prevents excitation of superconducting magnet coil windings and beamline vacuum bellows.
Pole Alignment Preservation
Synchrotron undulators require sub-micron magnetic field tolerances. Transmitted shocks exceeding 0.50G cause permanent mechanical displacement of magnetic poles, demanding weeks of re-mapping on laboratory magnetic measurement benches.
