01 A-Frame Articulation Geometry & Armored Winch Center of Gravity

Offshore Launch and Recovery Systems (LARS) designed for 250 hp work-class subsea robotics comprise an articulated structural A-frame, an Active Heave Compensation (AHC) hydraulic winch carrying 4,500 meters of double-armored electro-optical umbilical cable, a dedicated hydraulic power unit (HPU), and high-pressure nitrogen gas accumulators.

A-Frame Folding Transport Lock

Articulated A-frame legs must be lowered to horizontal resting cradles and locked with dual 120 mm alloy shear pins to minimize vertical clearance profile below 16 feet.

Umbilical Drum Concentrated Load

The 65-ton spooled cable drum concentrates heavy axle weight onto the rear trailer trunnion. Transporter hydraulic suspensions must be grouped in a 3-point or 4-point circuit.

Nitrogen Accumulator Pressure

Pre-charged AHC piston accumulators must be isolated with lock-out valves and de-pressurized to transport blanket levels (≤ 25 bar) per DOT HazMat regulations.

Quayside offloading requires dual 300-ton lattice-boom crawlers or quayside mobile harbor cranes utilizing certified equalized 4-point spreader frames pinned directly to the LARS main chassis lifting pad-eyes.

Slip Ring Fiber Testing

Prior to transport departure and immediately upon quayside arrival, the high-voltage (4,500V) optical rotary slip ring within the winch core undergoes OTDR optical fiber loss attenuation testing and 10 kV dielectric insulation resistance checks.

Environmental Marine Coating

Industrial protective heat-shrink wrapping and high-grade vapor-corrosion-inhibitor (VCI) capsules protect sensitive servo-valves, AHC displacement sensors, and stainless steel hydraulic fittings from interstate road salts and marine humidity.
